Where to stay in Urbino.

Historic centre or hills: how to choose, depending on how you travel.

There are two ways to stay in Urbino: inside the walls, or outside them in the hills around the town. The right choice depends on how you travel and what you are looking for.

We are in the hills, so you already know our preference. Even so, here are the pros and cons of both, so you can make up your own mind.

I.How to choose

Historic centre or hills.

In the historic centre
The Ducal Palace and the restaurants are a short walk away, and you don’t need to go anywhere in the evening. But the centre is a restricted traffic zone: the car stays outside the walls and the streets are steep.
In the hills
You get more space, peace and parking right by the house. In exchange you need the car for everything, including going out for dinner.
With children
The centre is pedestrian but full of steps, and pushchairs are awkward. Out of town, children have the garden.
With pets
They are welcome here, for a supplement. Elsewhere, it is always worth asking before you book.
As a group
Finding room for a lot of people in one place isn’t always easy. Booking our two houses gives you space for 10 guests on the same property.
For exploring the area
Outside the walls you can set off without worrying about parking. From here Gradara is 35 minutes away and Pesaro 37.
